What are people saying about the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival?
"It's the people. It's the people. It's the people. The films are great, the goodies are awesome, the workshops are crucial, the location is unbeatable, but it is the people who run it, the people who appear, the people who show up who make the Big Bear Lake Horror Film Festival so very special. Everyone is there to share their knowledge and experience; I have never left with less than I arrived with."
-Victor Miller, Writer, Friday the 13th
The Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival of 2011 was my first film festival as a
guest/judge. I can tell you it was one of my best film experiences ever. First of all Jamie, and Chris and the staff were fantastic. Not only a great time with film screenings, but also the chance to really hang with so many other film people. Above and beyond the screenings, there were really informative and usable lectures, and events where you can meet and mix with your colleagues and lovers of film. Add that to the cool parties, the wonderful Big Bear, and you have one of the best weekends you can ever spend. I hope to come back every year. See you there.
-Harry Manfredini, Composer, Friday the 13th, Swamp Thing, The Omega Code, Wishmaster

"I was invited to be a judge at the 2011 Horro-Fi Film Festival The setting, location and atmosphere for this exceptional event was perfect. The attending fans had the opportunity to meet the professional film makers and to immerse themselves for several days into the dark world of Horror and Sci-Fi. The competitive films were very entertaining and many had garnered previous awards. It is easy to say, 'A good scary time was had by all'."
Michael Westmore, Makeup Artist
"I'd like to praise you on how well put together your fest is. Alex Livinalli ("Beware" Actor)
told me he was impressed with the event and I am too, with how well you kept communication with me during this whole process. Not all film festivals keep lines of communication open as well as you guys did. Also from a filmmakers point of view, I really love the panel of judges, (that means a lot to a filmmaker) and how quickly you guys announced winners on your website.
Thank you again and please forward this to all involved."
-Jason Daly, Director "Beware"

"I know I speak on behalf of the whole cast and crew of Victorville Massacre, when I say THANK YOU!! Thank you for a wonderful film festival and thank you for choosing us.... And a special thank you to the fans that voted for us!!
-Jake Blakeman, "The Victorville Massacre," Fan Favorite Feature, 2011.
"After busting our collective a**es to get this movie done, it is very satisfying to know that we will be
screened for an audience that has a passion for the genre. I personally was drawn to the Festival because of the location. I mean really...short of screening in a dark mid-century castle...deep in the woods is probably the best place to tell a horror story. It really is where the horror story originated...around the fire with the unseen eyes watching you from the dark surrounding woods, super aware of every snap of a twig around you...thrilling. I hope we are able to recapture some of that good old-fashioned fun and fright in the dark of the night.”
-Keith Allan, Director, 11/11/11

"I was invited as a Special Guest to the second annual Big Bear Horror Film Festival. I have attended many festivals and conventions throughout my career, but rarely have been welcomed by such an organized, enthusiastic, and hospitable staff. The accommodations were lovely and the festival a blast! What a fabulous weekend getaway out of Los Angeles and I hope to be invited back again! I know this will be one horror festival that will grow each year."
-Actress Brooke Lewis
"As a hi
gh school film instructor, I took several of my students to the Big Bear Horror Film Festival. We were met and greeted with the utmost professionalism and kindness. Every film maker there talked in length with my students about the filmmaking craft, and we viewed incredible horror films in a state of the art theater. My kids had some of their films shown and we loved the experience, and I am hooked. I will attend every year."
-Steven Orsinelli, Instructor, The Lewis Center
"The 2010 Big Bear Horror Film Festival was quite an amazing experience for me. While not being the first time my films were screened at festivals, it was the first time I actually arrived to participate and did not regret it. The festival was lively, the films were great, and the BBHFF crew made me feel like I'm home. It was an experience I would not have missed for the world and one that I will no doubt wish to repeat next year.
On a professional level, the BBHFF helped me make connections with people who have rich industry experience and other interesting film makers. The festival was a huge step for me in making my way into the American industry and I'm grateful and proud to have been able to take a part in it."
-Amit Tishler, Animator, Tel-Aviv, Israel
"I've go
ne to dozens of film festivals and conventions as an actor, and after a weekend at (the) Big Bear Horror Film Festival, I figured they were in their ninth or tenth year by the amazing way it was run. I couldn't believe it when I found out this was only their second year.
The festival totally rocks with great films, panels, parties, fun contests, award ceremonies, the breathtaking scenic beauty of Big Bear...I can go on and on. Michael, Jamie, and Chris made me feel like acting royalty, and I met so many great people. It was a weekend I'll always remember."
-Jed Rowen, Actor
"(The) B
ig Bear Horror Film Festival is a fantastic venue to screen films as well as a great place to spend the weekend. It is a warm and engaging festival that is run really well. The film maker question and answer sessions are top notch. The audience can really get to know the people behind the scares. We are proud to sponsor it."
-Nolan Lebovitz, Film Producer and Co-Owner of Quick Film Budget®, Inc.
"The Big Bear Horror Film Festival was an absolute blast! Never mind the staggering mountain environment and the great excuse to get out of HELL-A for a weekend, it brought together the freaks and geeks and lovers of horror in an intimate setting and then turned into one hell of a party.
It was well run, (Jamie Kristen and Michael Coulombe are the hosts with the mosts), had some really amazing selections to sink your teeth into, and brought together like-minded fans and film makers alike. I can't wait for next year. Beware the bear."
-Adam Robitel, Producer, Writer, Actor, Owner of Robitel Media Works
"As a first time attendee of (the) Big Bear Horror Film Festival, I can't wait to go back! It was warm and pesronal and generally had a delightful feel to it. The films showed an impressive range, the mixers were a ton of fun, and I was thrilled with the personalities in appearance. To get to meet so many great people face to face was very exciting."
