Trip Planner
We're so thrilled you've decided to join us for the 2013 Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival!
Here are some tips for planning your trip up the mountain:
-
Book your room/cabin now: Don't wait! Here is a listing of our partner lodgings.
-
Transportation: If you're flying in, we recommend Ontario airport, as the most convenient airport. Whether it's your own or a rental, make sure you have a reliable vehicle. Consider carpooling to split the cost of gas. Look here for a forum set up just for this reason. It's always a good idea to pack chains, just in case it's a little icy or snowy.
-
Directions: The Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center is located at 39707 Big Bear Blvd., Big Bear Lake, CA 92315. *See below for a list of directions from various locations. Bigbear.com has awesome maps for people coming from all different locales.
-
Driving tips: Take turns slowly. Keep windows cracked for fresh air. If you have riders with even mild motion sickness, pack soda pop and saltine crackers; they should ride in the front seat. Use lower gears to save your breaks!
-
Wardrobe: Weather in Big Bear can change from day to night. Bring summery clothes, but remember to pack your jackets, gloves, beanies, etc. Bring sunscreen (the Big Bear sky is so beautiful and unpolluted and the sun burns hotter in the mountains)!
-
IF you'll be arriving late, after dark, make sure you bring flashlights. It's daaark in the woods. Eat before you come or pack some snacks in case you get hungry. Many places in Big Bear close earlier than "fast food" places in cities down the mountain. Also, you may not want to wait to have a few drinks until after you find your room. ;) Call if you get lost. We're here to help! 323-839-4283
-
BRING CASH: Besides wanting to have cash on hand for your $15 cover at the Sat Night party, many places in Big Bear do NOT accept credit cards. To avoid ATM charges, you may want to keep some cash handy.
