Poster Art:
"I was fresh out of art school when I made Dracula's Widow. I remember when I went in there I was all gung-ho with the idea of making the first authentic color film noir vampire movie using primary color plexi-glass backdrops as a modern version of the extreme high contrast, burn a flea off a rat's ass lit B&W noir. I remember Dino Delaurnentiis being cool with the idea as long as I gave him plenty of ‘watermelons’ on camera. Dino was a big fan of t&a flicks. Being a young, slipper-wearing romantic poet back then, I was horrified and said ‘no way.’
Now seven features later, I would have absolutely no problem giving him his “watermelons” as long as he gave me more creative autonomy. In the end, it came out like a total bouillabaisse of camp, horror, EC comics, comedy, forced ‘watermelons’, ‘40’s noir and artiness. Though I hated it then due to producer's recut and meddling, I enjoy watching it now especially after a few shaken, not stirred gin martinis."
