There are few legendary roles in television and Richard Moll’s bald baliff “Bull” is one of them. Richard Moll’s role on the nine-year hit NBC® sitcom, “Night Court” was so wonderful that many people believe that he was not really acting. That myth has been easily dispelled by Richard’s conspicuous versatility.
Richard was born in Pasadena, CA. He grew up in Ohio, Wyoming, Utah, and various other parts of California. Although something of a class clown, he was an excellent student and went on to attend the University of California at Berkley. During this period, Richard spent his summers pumping gas, fly fishing, and assisting guests on packing trips at his father’s lodge in the Jackson Hole area of Wyoming. Originally majoring in psychology, he switched to history out of sheer interest and earned a degree in the field, with an emphasis on the Civil War and Reconstruction.
Many people are surprised to learn of Richard’s accomplishments as a Shakespearean actor. He has appeared at such venerable locales as The Old Globe Theater with the likes of Stockard Channing, and has been directed by such notables as Tony Richardson. More surprising, is the fact that Richard once toured the country portraying what has been called, “The definitive Abe Lincoln” in the historical drama The Lincoln-Douglas Debates.
Richard’s film credits include Scary Movie II (2001), The Flintstones (1994), Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Jingle All the Way (1996), and Ivan Reitman’s Evolution (2001). He was a recurring character in NBC® “Getting By” and CBS® “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”. Recent credits include the covert-ops film Serpent Rising (2010) and The Christmas Cottage (2008) with Peter O’Toole and Jared Padelecki. Most recently, Moll appeared in the live action movie based on the popular cartoon, Scooby Doo: The Curse of the Lake Monster (2010), produced by Warner Bros.®, with Jonathan Winters.
This balance between heavy drama and comedy is expanded by his recent voice-over on the Emmy®-winning “Batman, The Animated Series” as Two Face®,” and as the voice of Norman on the Saturday morning cartoon, “Mighty Max.” Richard has also had a flourishing career in television commercials appearing for Honda®, Coors®, Jack in the Box®, and Volkswagon®, among others.
A passionate environmentalist, Richard testified before the Senate Subcommittee on the Environment. He has also been politically active concerning Alzheimer’s disease, testifying before the House Subcommittee on Aging.
Richard has become part of an acting dynasty, being the son-in-law of the late comedy legend Milton Berle, former husband to the accomplished designer Susan Brown and father to 16-year old Chloe and and 14-year old Mason.
Congratulations to our friend, Hanelle Culpepper, on her many successes with the amazing film Within (2009)!!
Within and the Big Bear Horror Film Festival were featured recently in the world renowned Fangoria magazine.
